We're getting along. I'm not upset and I don't sense that Kim Crosser, Chuck Sharp, Gary Burch, etc are upset. We just don't believe it's the best way to handle a busy AX. We've had many busy AX's. We can handle it.

Thanks for the ideas, positive comments and offer. I think I may have a few ways to streamline the day and and am sure Jerry does too. We will ride a close herd on that startline! Since EVERY Instructor is being assigned a student there may very well be a need for extra help at start. I honestly don't know the details of how things run in the timing trailer, well, other than it MUST be a party of SOME sort because my wife is in there. But I am unsure if having the order of cars change lap by lap via a multi-lane start will work well for them. "?" I am looking forward to the event though I must admit that I didn't sleep well last night, as my mind was very active concerning it.

Oh...wait.....NOW I see why this all happened...its an eeeeeviiiil plot by Jerry to keep me unrested so he can WHOOP up on me in GSS!

As the AX Chair with Gary and Carl .... When Fred Flintstone owned a 911S ... we ran as many as 140+ drivers at AX's more than once.

What happened to "no X cars if the registration exceeds 80" rule? Have I had too many senior moments to think this was just a bad dream? We had a wait list for X cars. If 80 wasn't met, we'd open the wait list.

I took lots of gripe from AX'ers ... many of them PCA members ... who couldn't run X cars they had in their barn because we continually had over 80 participants in 2003/2004 and strictly enforced the no X car rules. We never closed Registration. We adjusted our run sessions as needed, planned ahead, and made it happen. I know Carl and Gary and even this ol' fart will be happy to help logistically should this situation occur in the future. It's about the the 6 P's principle:

Proper
Planning
Prevents
Piss
Poor
Performance

The club is full of resources. Tap into them, and pretty much any challenge can be met. Write the emails. Pick up the phone. Don't be afraid to call for help. We're all here to help.

Final opinion: a Porsche Club should never turn away a Porsche Club Member. Period.

When i paid my fee at the trailer I was told I had better pre-reigister for the next event as they may close reigistration, I dismissed this as the person stating it probably has never had to encourage anyone to buy anything. the club should have taken in a little over $8k, did we sell the time to Tesla or anyone who promotes a product or service on our dime? Great Event and hopefully the sign of better times for everyone.

Hmmm... Alllllthouuugh....Dan you did mention Fred Flintstone was there, maybe we havn't scanned the stone tablets? On the other hand with his footpower car on much tighter courses you could easily pack more drivers on the course at once. If so 140 would be a chinch!

Sorry you missed a course that the Black Pearl would have loved, on a perfect day, and because everyone pitched, in a nearly flawless event.

As to our registration workers in the trailer.... You work your tails off and I have nothing but the highest respect for everything you do. Great job! You handled all that was thrown at you, including people registering during the track walk, without turning anyone away!

That's because there was no online reg in 2003/2004. We were just getting the Pre-registration system worked out (without self-online reg, no less). So, no. You won't find 140+ registered on the online system. It wasn't in existence for PCA yet. Dino the Dinosaur helped throw the track in those days. Barnie Rubble was the announcer during Timed Runs. Mr. Slate worked start/finish.

Yes, I'm very sorry the Pearl missed out. But, just you wait ...

We had 127 registered June 23, 2007. The largest event I was able to find was 152 on July 27, 2003.

You can see the contradiction in what you wrote above, no? We "should never turn away a Porsche Club Member" but "I took lots of gripe from AX'ers...many of them PCA members...who couldn't run X cars they had." Yes, in those days we did indeed turn away club members if they were not driving their Porsche car. I was one of those members, and I wouldn't want to see us go back to those days. The "rule," as I remember it, was more like "Porsche club members driving Porsche cars only if attendance is greater than 80," (later changed to 100 cars, and then to the discretion of the AX chair).

There have been several iterations of such a restriction on entries, but these are different times, I wouldn't like to see us return to the "old days," especially since some of the reasons we did that no longer exist. As you say, this was before online registration existed, which puts a different slant on things, and for sure eliminates the long lines at the trailer the morning of the event, which was a primary reason for the policy, along with a more limited instructor and tech inspector pool back in those days. We also had a timing system at one point that did not allow more than 4 cars on the track at the same time, limiting the number of runs possible in a given time period. After it was demonstrated Sat. that we can indeed handle 120 cars and finish by 4:30pm (if the event is well-organized), I wouldn't think we would need limits on attendance at all, or certainly not before 130-140 cars. Then we might think about limiting non-member participation first, and X car entries second, but only when absolutely necessary.

There is also some correlation between AX and the TT/DE series as well that must be considered. A number of the X cars that showed up on Sat. were non-members who are entered in our next SOW event, shaking down their cars ahead of time. Just sayin'...if you limit non-members and X cars at AX events, it could also effect TT/DE entries. We are experiencing successful entry levels for both venues at the moment, so why would we talk about restrictions until we actually have a demonstrated problem?
