February AX Track Map...sort of. **UPDATE**

Postby Mmagus on Thu Feb 03, 2011 8:49 am

Hi all,

Here is a link to the map we ran in December and will be running again this month. We are going to try and make a change to the VERY tight turn at N4 which was an issue for many folks, but that will have to be done "by eye" when we throw the track. We will also adjust the finish slightly as we had quite a few nasty spins there last time. By the way, we NEED help setting the track Friday Feb 11 starting at 3:15, come on out!

Enjoy!

Mark,

I wouldn't change N4 (it's a throw away corner, treat it as such), but I would shorten up the final straight and last two corners to make it safer. Of course, that's just my opinion and as such, is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I am guessing N4 will change...though I didn't mind it, Jerry was NOT a fan. And, as AX Chair...there are some perks  Oh..wait..if I convince him to keep it, maybe I can BEAT him! Muuuuhahahahaaaaa

doh that turn sucked. NOT AGAIN PLEASE. :banghead:

I didn't want to go into 1st but totally bogged out of it in 2nd. I dont think I ever lugged a motor at an autox worse than at that turn. I remember it well.

beers can be bought for people to get that turn speeded up if yous know what I mean..... :beerchug:

Hi all,

Please enjoy this song, and keep the chorus in mind regarding the track layout for this Saturday.

AX this weekend*

Postby Greg Phillips on Thu Feb 10, 2011 9:08 am

Don't get so caught up in the tire and weight wars and forget this weekend is the second autocross of the season

Weather should be beautiful, don't miss a chance to rub it in for the rest of the US drivers stuck in the snow :beerchug:

Anyway we could add a small technical element like a slalom at the end or beginning of the long straight? That end looks brutal on brakes and rotors.

Thanks for the suggestion Carl but we will most likely not for a few reasons. When we ran this similar track in December folks enjoyed it quite a bit and we heard no issues with brakes or rotors. That area over there is already a bit tight and making room for a slalom while tring to stay clear of he k-rail in case of a spin would eat up a lot of the lot. Plus, the track is going to be fairly tight aleady and we want to have a fair balance of....hey...wait a minute...since I am in a 924S....maybe we should! Hello top ten BRI!

Since you have mentioned this, it reminds me of something I wanted to do... look for the "Design a Course" thread! :beerchug:

See you Saturday!
