Steve,

The club's policy for the PDS has always been that PCA members driving Porsche cars have priority for registration. Unless this policy has changed, which I haven't heard anything about, students driving non-Porsche cars would slide back to the waiting list if the event filled up with members driving P-cars. Exceptions have been made for members who have had unexpected mechanical problems with their P-cars that forced them into an alternative vehicle at the last minute (or during the event).

Are the people who registered with non-Porsches also not PCA members? That puts another wrinkle in the mix. The PDS flyer says "Current PCA membership is a requirement." The Reg page says "Available only to PCA members." The first thing to do would be to verify their membership.

Normally all x cars will be on the waiting list until the registration cut off date. If we have not sold out to a full count of 52 Porsche's they will be allowed into the school.

Here's where we are.................

In this economy we have certain financial parameters we need to stay within to make the school work and that has caused the CDI's to rethink the X car factor.

At this time with one week left before the school we are at 43 entrants including the Lotus, BMW & Vette, the CDI's have decided to allow the 3 X cars into the school.

On a side note the bimmer & vette are registered in the school along with their father in his Porsche.

Perfectly understandable Joel. Has anyone considered offering 1 PDS a year? It could be the Mother Ship of Schools. Maybe we could use the lot south of the Trolley tracks, offer some different exercises and open up the registration to more students. It may just be that more Instructors would turn out. Just a rambling thought!

Thanks for all the work!

Good thoughts, too, Jennifer. 4 skid pads are not really enough for 52 cars. There isn't enough time to work through all the cars with enough attempts on both exercises. But, if we had 6 skid pads, 60-66 cars would be workable. The addition of the south lot would accommodate that. And, I think 60-66 cars would be fine for the Sunday AX exercise. Cut back to one PDS/year and go big-time with P-cars and X-cars! I know a number of X-car owners who would love to attend a local PDS.

+1 here. Does this mean we are going to open the registration to anyone, or just these 3 drivers?

Well preference is to opening the school to P-cars first of course. Other Instructors have indicated that as well. Also, not sure what kind of Brownie points/money the club receives from National for promoting Porsches... The main concern is for our Instructor/Volunteer pool and burnout.

A little back ground on the X- car drivers. These are not boy racers looking to burn up a set of tires and cause complete mayhem at our event.
These are the sons of a PCA member Porche driving DE participant.
They ran at the last TT/DE and were excellent students who were told what a great deal our PDS was and that they should sign up.

There have been numerous current members who came to us driving other cars and finally switched over to the P-car experience.
I wouldn't be supprised to see these brothers in a spec-boxster some day...
