Another fun event on the fast track.
Needed more revs and better tires :banghead:
Congrats to Don Middleton and Michael Cornelius, very good times, and Bob Brand is getting his machine sorted out well.  :bowdown:
Jim Duncan won his Club race and also had a fast time for the TT.

Really good time this weekend and we really dodged a bullet on weather.
I didn't see more than 5 minutes of rain in my one wet run group.

Thanks to everyone who helped put on this event.

Note to those who could not attende. PCNA had pro drivers in Cayenne and Panamera Turbos in the TT run group and were giving ring rides...
Wow! The pilot of the Panamera in my run group was driving the wheels off that thing!
That car just danced through the tight stuff.
Very impressive... for any street car. That is really a 4-door 997.

Thanks for the kind words, Greg. I knew Steve had me in his sights, but when he pulled off early in timed runs, I figured he was trying to save the tires. When I saw both your times, I figured you had used up the tires to be so far off your practice times.

Down on revs? Engine problems?

Good times. Hope you don't have major engine issues.

Great time this weekend. I had a ball playing with Mr. "In Your Mirrors" Rondeau, Rick Sylvestri, and Kris Scheussler at the end of the day.

Once again the support I received from the guys and gals at the events was stellar. I experienced a mechanical issue and was overwhelmed by the aid I got. Thanks to the following people for their support to keep me up and running:

Daveid Quesnel, Mark Kinninger, Sean Malloy, Jae Lee, Steve Grosekemper, Joel Bowman, and several other people who offered their help and advice. A special thanks to a complete stranger named "Bruce" who had the exact part I needed in his tool box. Amazing: a perfect stranger coming to the aid of a fellow Porsche-phile. Thank you to all of you. :rockon:

Also: thanks to Rick Sylvestri (Dave Q., too) and Peter Cz. for providing me a really nice "crash-pad" Saturday night. It was great.And to Ethan D., and Steve G.: thanks for breakfast and "caloric support" Saturday and Sunday AM. 8)

It's about the people, not the cars. Well ok, the cars are pretty d@mn cool, too.

Participating in the CFOS: about $390.00 for one day.
Driving sub - 2:00:00 times and then coming home, taking off the numbers and tires and going to dinner in your "street car": priceless!! 8)

Had a great time playing with everyone this weekend. Last session on Saturday was the best with Dan C. and Rick S. :rockon: The track seemed a little bit slower for everyone during timed runs than it was on Saturday. Next year I'll try to get that elusive 1:59.999999. :lol:

Thanks to all of the organizers and volunteers who make this event so much fun every year. Special thanks to my wife for all of her hard work and planning the drivers dinner on Saturday night. It was a blast! Thanks to 911 Design for supplying all of the beverages and the tent so that we could stay warm and out of the wind.

If you haven't done it yet, sign up for Chuckwalla. It's going to be great!

Thanks to all the volunteers for another outstanding event. We dodged some weather, had some good spirited on-track fun, and witnessed heroic efforts by club mechanics helping all the drivers keep running... A most heroic effort by Phil Corwin who, after wife Jackie tossed her motor during an unscheduled downshift into 2nd gear calmly said " Oh well, I have a spare spec motor on a pallet at home. We can just take the car home tonight so I can change it out and she will be ready to run tomorrow." WOW!  :bowdown:  :bowdown:  :bowdown:

On another note, where did James Buck find 7 seconds this year? Was he just running the infield? WOW!  :bowdown:

No engine problems, just short gears. :banghead:
Top speed was around 130 mph at 6500 rpm with the 265/45/16 (or 275/40/17) tires.
Had a set of 245/45/17 that were taller, but one kept loosing air and it turned out the CCW wheel had a small crack that was leaking :surr:

Most fun I've had all year in the last Sat session with Mark R. and Dan C. Another thanks to Robert and ALL the volunteers for this years CFOS. Without them this just wouldn't happen.
Big Thanks to Dave Q for letting me run his car in the timing session as my car might have a broken rocker.

Thanks to Vince & Cecilia Knauf, Michael Dolpin and all others that take the risk and put on the event for us all.

I had a mechanical problem and was blown away by how much help I received from folks I know and complete strangers I came up to asking for parts. John Rickard, Pete, Steve Groskemper and Mark Kinnenger all helped diagnose the problem. Sean Malloy's friend Bruce Stone (the complete stranger in Dan's note) went to Bruce's shop (The 914 Parts Guy) in Riverside and got the parts Dan and I needed. All of the above helped save my weekend and the car got fixed and I got to finish the weekend with my best time ever.

One "benefit" of the breakdown was I had time to catch a ride with pro Kevin Rousch wo was giving rides in the new Cayman Interspec Series car. MAN-O-MAN - a thrill ride and I'm ready to sign up for brakes to brake like he did. I thought we were going to blow through every braking area for sure - easily way more spped than my car and braking in half the distance it takes me in my car. Cool!

A very memorable weekend. Look forward to next year for sure. :D

Yep, overall the new classes look like good groupings of cars. If Chuck was driving the Turbo he would have been right in there with CC7. The Turbo was down so he ran for CC7 points in the 944 Spec car (CC12) on 9 year old corded tires. That car did triple duty in the club racing and two TT entries and probably still hasn't cooled down yet.

As for the BRI, it still looks like it needs a little work. With two TT events totally dominated by the sticky tire club I think it is unlikely that any driver will post a top BRI on street tires or anything other than Hoosier/V710. Top 10 BRI is essentially a reshuffle of top 10 overall.

Yep, somebody is going to need to do some serious statistics on the BRI to make it meaningful. But we may need data from a year or three before we have enough info to work with.

I have a simple solution here but some drivers will not like it. If we get tire penalty points really right the BRI will fix itself. :D
