Thanks for getting the results uploaded so quickly, Martin.

It was great to see some of the old-timers drop by to check out the action yesterday like Jerry Sturm and Tom Comeau. :beerchug:

Congrats to Bob for TTOD and Paul for top BRI time. Very nice driving! Carl's new Boxster go-kart is going very well and sounds great--very unique. Sorry to see Gary's clutch break in practice. It's always something...

Thanks for posting this so fast Martin! Say, do you perhaps have an image of your GPS? I am curious to see if we got close to the Bunny Design, especially after having to adapt for broken asphalt. :banghead: :beerchug:

Good Day all in all ...
If people had known there was such a nice prize involved I am sure more would have entered the Coloring Contest. Thanks Mark.
Also thanks to Tom for the ride home, I owe you.

I am glad you like the prize, as to the other non-entrants...that will learn 'em! Hey I forgot to take any pictures of it, If its possible could you snap off and post it?

thanks!

Mark,

Here is one of my GPS laps. It just looks like a hungry bunny with long ears :-) It was a fun track.

I had a great time yesterday. It was good to see/hear from people I have met over the last 6 years of living in SoCal!!

As always SD region puts on the best PCA AutoX's I have seen in the country (and I travel a lot) now if you could just *lose* about half the cones used to make a course.. LOL.. you'd smoke all the other orgs putting on events nationwide!!

Lots of buzz about Carls Boxster is a good thing :) we have worked our as_es off getting the electronics to work and getting it to lay down the torque and hp we tuned into it (Porsche seriously cut the balls off of the Cayman's and Boxster's when it comes to intake/exhaust/tuning) We will be back with fresher tires (note: excuse coming) the poor A6's we brought have been through a 2day Pro Solo event (lots of runs with drag race start) plus a 2 driver 3 day SCCA tour event, and 3 PCA OCR events!! Can you say "dead"? :)

I was bummed the Kinngers were not there!! (POC event weekend?) Its nice to use them as a benchmark on how well your car/driver is doing!!

The plan is to be down for the next SD event on Sat. and then attend the SCCA event on Sunday. Stickers will be ordered this week :)

Oh.. thanks for not busting us on the exhaust. I did bring the muffler setup with us (v-band clamps and 10min its swapped out) but we know through the stock Porsche cats (not Boxster cats) and straight pipes it blows just a shade over 92. I heard Tom Comeau say "yep, that's about 92" Good ear Tom :) I did hear "grumblings" and I was spoken too about it, but nobody "lit us up" about it. It does sound good :)

Martin, 86 mph at the top? I guess that's what it takes to do a 1:16!

I' m going to get that ap! It will be awesome to be able to compare sectors.

Yes, 86mph was fast. It is interesting that Jennifer ran 1.5 seconds slower and reached 79.3mph on the top section. It's fun to compare with a co-driver and the Harry's Laptimer Pro software also allows to set sector/intermediate time etc. (green is straight line speed/red is cornering speed)

It's not exact, but close enough. The TomTom iPhone car adapter is recommended.

86 mph sounds about right. I was seeing 6200 rpm in 3rd there, I guessed at the time that I was going faster than 86 mph, but without a gps it's just guessing. It always seems faster than it really is.

Nice track Mark, can't wait for the next one.

I was using the TomTom iPhone adapter as well and got pretty good results with it. My fastest lap during practice was a 1:17.88. My top speed going up the hill was 61 mph, at the top was 78 mph, and coming down the back stretch was 71 mph. It was a fun track. Maybe next time I'll see what I can do with 3 timed runs instead of 2. :banghead:

OK, can you guys give a few more details on the setup you used for the maps. I was under the impression that it was just an iphone ap?

If you don't have an iPhone, the Android has several options. I use the free app called Race Ace. The sampling rate of phones is a bit slow, but it is certainly worth FREE if you don't have any other system. Far superior to a hot lap, but not nearly as good as a G2x or real aqcuisition system.

Mount the phone with best possible view of sky and experiment before arriving at the track as they tend to be complicated to figure out at first.

FYI, the newer smartphones also take pretty good video in the car mount if you don't have a video system as well.
