There is a major difference between a 100 treadwear and a 50 tradwear tire, so I don't think they should be lumped together.

agreed

Great weekend at the track and good tight competition between the II group...why are we changing classification system again?

My time runs were down ~1 second from practice due to a vacuum line that popped off :banghead:

oh well, next time!

Looking at the rules proposals for next year...is it me or are they stacked against the 944 turbo? Maybe the waterpumpers are the superior platform :roflmao:

see you all in my mirrors

Well, the A6/R6 Hoosiers, V710s, R1 and Z214s are all 30-40 TW. The Pilot, PZero and Advans are 60-80 TW. The Toyos and Nittos are 100 TW. Sounds like we are OK with the proposed divisions of 0-49, 50-100, 101+. What am I missing? :?

Sorry about that vacuum line. I wondered what happened to you. But, I'll take the points.

The II cars span CC05 to CC09. Sounds like more sorting is needed. But, that's the beauty of the new system versus the old one. Turbos need more respect, err base points, right?

You're right. I was thinking that these were 50 TW.

Sorry about that vacuum line. I wondered what happened to you. But, I'll take the points.

The beauty of the time trial...got to save the best for last.

uh....no

I built a points calculator that uses the 2012 proposed points to classify your car. I also built a more advanced survey and results page that can take everyones points and reclassify them in the correct class and then reorder the results of any TT or AutoX I have results for.

Zone 8 classification survey, if you fill this out and you competed in a event that I have results for we can see dynamic class changes to changing of modification points
http://spyderspider.com/pca/pca-2012-zo ... er-survey/

Zone 8 2012 Points calculator and survey once you fill it in you can see your results here
http://spyderspider.com/pca/pca-zone-8- ... r-results/

If anyone knows how to use advanced excel equations I can share the spreadsheet that is performing the calculations and you can play with the points system and see the resulting changes to the cars and classes

Hi Mark thanks for the work! Unfortunatly its not showing the results. I tried it twice in case I messed something up, but still no results.

This is now fixed, I forgot to copy the equations to all the other cells...

Yep mine is posted there now. Nice work, but the tally that it shows is not the one I come up with doing it manually. With the posted 2012 rules+ tom Browns re-worked base points I comeup with 300. Yours gives me 290 for the Brown and 300 for "midnight blue" (not sure what/who that is). The issue may be in this section Q where I see a difference between the stated rules and your choices.

2012 Rules state:

O. Non-stock sway bars
Factory 10
Aftermarket 20

Your section Q says

Stock
Factory
Factory with adjustable drop links
Aftermarket Adjustable

I am guessing that each of those choices give different point, but am unsure why you have 4 possible slections when the Rules only give two. Not being a whiner, just confused. Thanks for the great efforts to make this easier!

I assume that this is to collect data forthe Brown and Midnight Blue proposals?

The current rules may only have 2 selections I had to put in all posible selections for other proposals inorder to make the one survey calculate for all scenarios. I will look at the code, there may be some miscalculations I havent caught so please report any discrepancies and I'll see what the issue is. Both the brown and blue proposal have different rules from the current, I do need to get feedback from tom to make sure I implemented his proposal correctly.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I did the survey and the calculator. I don't see any results. Logon doesn't work either.

You selected Factory for swaybars, so you added a Porsche brand swaybar that did not come stock on your car correct?
All 3 proposals list 10 points for Factory so this is correct.

The extra 10 points you got for the blue proposal is due to B. DOT tread wear rating, the Brown and Zone 8 proposals both give you 20 points while the Blue gives you 30 points. You can read the blue proposal calculation for the tread wear here: http://spyderspider.com/pca/pca-zone-8- ... -proposal/

It is there now, I'm having some issues with it updating on the fly but it should be fine now.

Yes the bigest difference is the blue has much higher and more granular points for tires. Once I have a bunch of responses I'll match the data up to the TT results from Festival of Speed and the AutoX from last weekend and see what classes and grouping of times each class has.

Who wrote the current Zone 8 draft? I would like to get the Appendix C in a excel format so I can build that into the calculator so everyone doesn't have to lookup the base points.

Hola Mark,

I am sure you are up on this but juuuuust in case. There was a re-working of basepoints, the appendix C listed in the Rules linked on the website do not match in many cases. (I know mine do not). Here is a link ot the new more correct base points:
