O.K., here's a few clips from last weekend (sorry Mark, but my camera was out of tape when you looped it coming out of 14...).

Fun, technical track in the middle of nowhere. I think a lot of us left some time on the table, so we gotta go back (when it's cooler)...

Wow, R6's with 50 heat cycles. Is that a record? Did you send that into Guinness?

Seriously, it sounds like I need to work on my "smooth". :?

...it was probably closer to 40 cycles, but included a couple of cup races, not just time trials....

Thanks for that...I probably still need to enroll in Jad's "The Total Tire Care Solution to Fast Times" school, but I don't feel so bad now.

If you can't afford Jad's school, I may have one for you on tires!

Russell -

It was fun driving with you last weekend. I appreciate the driver's eye view of your spin, after having enjoyed the real time view. Maintaining the spin to "pan" the shot of my car was a nice touch.

We've heard. The Sharp School of Tire Management  , where one learns that...
1) When you can see the cord of the first ply, you still have 50% life left, and
2) Where tire life is measured in wear cycles, not heat cycles - the tread rubber is your first wear cycle, cords of each inner belt each give you an additional wear cycle. :roflmao:

Chuck I have some poorly worn 888's with a tad of cord. Can you show me how to pass tech and get some more laps outta them dogs. I am thinking shoe polish. (did I say that out loud)

Sorry Jim, I draw the line at R888's. One has to maintain SOME values! :banghead:

Ha! nice vignettes. You gotta love Billy. His subtle yet direct Black Flag station method. I had a similar frequency of BF visits this weekend at BW with PCA-GGR albeit a noticeably less subtle approach  . I must have really cooked my tires Sunday AM cause the car wanted to go off track in the PM. Either that or it was just a series of unforced driver errors. Hmmm.

Russell, That was a lot of fun. Thanks for posting the video. It's not very often that I get to play with the horsepower cars like that. The only other time I had that much fun playing was with all the 944s at SOW.

Dave,
I'll bet you were on Toyo R888's. If so, it proves my point about them! :banghead:

Nope, on their cousins: Nitto NT-01s. Thinking about it now I usually carefully heat cycle my new tires and let them rest for 48hrs but I did not do so with this set of rears. I essentially just scrubbed them on the Fwy to Chuckwalla and ran them all weekend. I think I will be more diligent about heat cycling my comp tires from now on.

p.p.s. The Time Trial results for Chuckwalla were not reported correctly to Zone 8. They are using the CC classes, not the A/B/C classes...
