THANKS, HERB AND SEAN!

Postby lbevins on Sun Jun 05, 2011 8:46 am

Just wanted to publicly thank my good friends, and race partners, Herb and Sean, for the loan of their 914 for yesterdays AX. My 911SC is in Sean's shop (SD AutoSport) getting a complete new suspension. The car wasn't ready in time, so they stepped up to the plate and aloud me to drive their awesome little 914 (number 914). I had a blast jumping into a 914 again and it enabled me to accumulate points for the season.

So... Thanks guys!

Ummm, Larry, you drove an AM car to accumulate points in IP class??? Even though the current configuration of the car probably only puts it in AI, that is a higher class than IP (all I classes are higher than all P classes in the progression). You are allowed to move up in class, but not down, so technically, it was against the rules to do that and you could have been protested for running the 10JREEN 914 in IP.

Of course I'll bow out if a protest is made. I'm a "gentleman racer". And, as a CDI, I need to set a good example. But, for what it's worth, I drove a very "tail happy" car (ask Sean and Herb) at about 95% (because it's not my car) and made the gap between me and my closest competitor equivalent to the gap that I make every AX in my IP car.

As the "closest competitor" Larry is referring to I have no intention of protesting. My main goal is to get faster and better my own times. Nevertheless, I am bothered by the idea that one has to protest to have the rules followed. We aren't NASCAR and I thought everyone is expected to abide by the rules of the game. Larry will win this class, hands down, without 'bending the rules".

Bill... Beat you to it. I have already told the AX team (about 2 hours ago) to flop the points... Giving you the win. 20 points for you and 15 points for me. I checked with 3 other people befor the event and was told by all 3 that everything was on the up and up. Guess I should have checked the rules and thought it through a little more myself. I never intended for this "mess" to happen. I never, ever "bend the rules" in anything I do in life. I'm a fair and honest man and this is embarrasing. Please forgive my stupidity/naivity. I'll buy you a beer at the next event. Also, I believe the club is planning (not advertised yet) a DE sometime in mid August. I'd love the privaledge of being your instructor for that event.

Cheers.

Larry,

Thanks for the clarification. Clearly this was just a misunderstanding. Still, I'm going to take you up on being my instructor for an AX or DE. If you can just help me improve my times by 3-4 sec, so I can at least finish a 'respectable' second, I'll be happy to buy YOU the beer.

Larry - Please send your change request to AX Timing or myself and I will update the results. The AX team can't make the change.

Bill...

Thanks for your understanding. So, ya... Count me in. How 'bout we buy each other a beer? It's on the club anyway, right?

Larry

I changed the results as I have the file with all the other changes we had to make, otherwise they will get lost. (such as the X car in AS class).
