AMB Transponder Question

Postby Mmagus on Thu Jun 09, 2011 7:57 pm

I just picked up an AMB transponder used. the gent who owned it has a Porsche shop and used it as a loaner to customers. I dont believe the number was registered under a name, but I am not sure. Is there a place to check?

Thanks gang!

Mark,

One place to check would be mylaps.com

http://www.mylaps.com/register/register ... p?regorg=0

Try to set up an account using your new transponder number and see if it had been registered with them before.

Near the bottom of the registration page is info on registering a used transponder

Thanks Greg,

I set up an account, entered the transponder number and it accepted everything with no warnings. Looks like it was never registered before. Nice to dodge that $40 transfer fee!

No need to register. All you need to provide is the transponder number to the organization you run with. I've used my daughter's karting transponder for years in time trial and club races with no problem.

No problem until she starts Club racing :roflmao:

Time trial is not an issue as we use our own software.

Many groups including the PCA Club Racing use the AMB MyLaps website and they only allow one registered user per transponder, and charge a transfer fee to change users :banghead:

Probably part of the business plan to sell as many as possible.
