If you live close to the east county. I use Lakeside Paint and Body shop. The owner is George Toth and his painter is excellent.

Good luck

There are a lot of VERY good body shops in the area as well as a lot of VERY BAD ones.

Amato's is the only "Porsche Approved" shop in the area that I know of. We have had a PCASDR tech session there and they were very impressive. I have not had any work done there, but have not heard any complaints from anybody.

West Coast is (or was - not sure) the shop of choice by Pioneer for many years. That speaks volumes. I have seen their work, and it was very good, but have not had any done there myself.

Both are very expensive, but that is reflected in the quality of work. There are other very good shops as well. I don't like endorsing specific shops unless I have personal experience. Perhaps others can comment from experience.

Are you looking to get a hood for a concours car painted, or a splitter on a racecar. Very different recommendations based on parts and usage....

I have used West Coast several times ( ). Each time they did an outstanding job - everything was like new (or better). AAA has no problem with their pricing - if you have insurance coverage for the work, I would go there. The only negative was the time - they aren't the fastest shop in town, so allow some pad to any ETA they give you.

Best of Show in Escondido is an excellent paint and body shop. They are very attentive and do lots of restoration projects. I'll get my 73 painted by them when its time. Not a collision shop like many places are today. I can also recommend Jesse Garris at AJ USA in Mira Mesa. Jesse is anal retentive about paint, his shop has painted lots of parts (bumpers, rockers, hoods etc) for me over the years. Color match is spot on.
