That is a fun and inviting write-up John! The event sounds like a great time. Are the Shirley's bringing out their new car?

Excellent!! Drive my car on Saturday, look at other people's cars on Sunday. How could my weekend get any better? Oh... well, based on the surf in the background of that photo ... bring my board along, too!!! WooHoo!! :roflmao:

There's supposed to be a pretty big swell on Sunday too, Dan, but bringing your board is off the program--that's south Boomer Beach in the photo and it is illegal to use any "surf vehicle or implement" there, it has been designated a "body surfing only" area for years now. We used to ride it all the time back in the '60s, but the lifeguards, who were mostly bodysurfers, got the city to designate it that way. I have friends who have actually been arrested for riding it on boards. :(

Can't you surf in the cove if it's breaking?

Sure. But it only breaks when it's at least 10' at low tide, or bigger at other tides. Back in the day, I rode it at 20+ feet, the biggest waves ever for me.
It was gnarly
