Hey Bob - great to hear from you!
A number of racing shells come in wider widths in addition to the standard.
For Recaro, they have some XL models which are 25-35mm wider (~430mm versus 395mm, for instance).
Sparco has some designated "Plus", like their "Evolution 2 Plus", and some come in three sizes like the Evo (Evo, Evo-L and Evo-XL).
In one car I have the Recaro Pro Racer XL, and in the other a Cobra Evolution Pro GT (the GT is their designation for 25mm extra width).
These two are very supportive, but have more restricted access and blind-spot visibility. Each one is the wider version of their standard seat.
As a passenger seat in one of my cars I have a Recaro Pole Position. While not as supportive, it does well, and allows easy access.
And, the Pole Position is already 25mm wider than their usual seat width (430mm). This might be the best compromise of comfort and all-out support.
Ideally, you'd get to try them out, but even in the Reno area there are probably few (if any) dealers stocking such items.
I tried some out in other club members' cars to get an idea, so if you're not in too big a hurry, that might help out.
Good luck, and let us know how it's going!
