Thanks for the photos! John, that one you took is actually me. It is great!
The track was fun, fast and challenging. I really had a variety of, "crap, I have a lot to learn" experiences. First run session was on extremely worn out tires that we have been using to save the better tires for the subsequent run sessions. I went with Martin and he actually spun. Don't think I've ever seen him spin before. Then because there was no way to drive normally, I went out and thought I would try to drift, slide and control the car like him. Super fun, but I don't think the corner workers were very happy with me and I had a lot of cone marks to clean off yesterday
Second run session we changed to the better AX tires. The car felt great and my times were very competitive. Then, after talking to some momentum gurus, who mentioned they were shifting in to 3rd gear 3 times during the course, and I was only shifting once in to 3rd - I decided to try that strategy. That was driving more to the limit, the car seemed more squeamish and it was probably not a good idea to change up so much during timed runs. What I'm having trouble comprehending is that my best timed run time was similar to the 3 times I got during the 2nd run session only shifting in to 3rd once. Well, it was a great day, lots more learning to do, and everyone seemed to enjoy the event. Congratulations to Martin for TTOD and really being ahead of the pack on this busy course!
Happy Labor Day everyone!
