Fun at WSIR

Postby Cajundaddy on Sat Sep 29, 2012 10:59 pm

Here are a couple of imperfect laps at Willow Springs with PCA Zone 8. I ran a personal best earlier (1:39) and was lured into thinking a track record (1:38) in BSX class was possible. Things didn't go exactly as planned as you will see.

I am a certified computer dufus and this took FOREVER to edit and put together. All the editing mistakes and do-overs caused some waves and glitches in what was otherwise some pretty good original vid quality. Oh well... The next one is certain to be better. Enjoy! :roflmao:

Nice save on turn 2 Dave. Your music makes it much less scarier to watch  Great entry speed on turn 8 on the last lap.

Well done Dave. Cudo's on your personal best lap efforts. :beerchug: Looks like you got juuuuust a little loose in Turn 2. :roflmao:

Sorry I couldn't be at WSIR this year. The Pearl was in recovery at the time of the event.

The good news is the Black Pearl was released from hospital and is going through Physical Therapy right now (a couple of nice runs around town and up to Julian). From what I can tell, the efforts have paid off nicely and she's stronger than ever. More PT and some final touch-ups before I can let her loose on you guys and gals. There is a very good chance she'll be debuted at Buttonwillow for a shake-down. Check your mirrors.

Yep, this was an old set of V710s w/22 heat cycles and the last event they ran was Chuckwalla timed runs in 105F. They were cooked beyond well done and stepped out in a big way. When the rear stepped out I was full throttle and corrected but it was too little, too late. Once I had one tire in the dirt I gave up and let her go rather than trash the entire corner with rocks and gravel.

Looking forward to a little nose-to-tail with the Black Pearl at BW while sporting some fresh rubber. We had some good chases last weekend with Danny, Chuck S, Greg, and Monty.

Nice. I liked the pass in turn 3 @ 7:24 into the video (can you say .... late?). I can also see how you might have run out of stick in the tires by timed runs. Keeping up with the Jones (in this case Grosekemper, Delanzo, Buck, Smidt) on those 225/245's would have shaved those tires pretty well. But, hey ... it's all about fun; and nothing says fun like "I'm in your mirrors." 8)

Nice driving. :burnout:

Thanks. I was very happy to be keeping up with the red group drivers, or not falling behind too quickly depending on who it was. Looking forward to running BW next month. Should be fun.
