Looking to get car painted

Postby ethand on Tue Dec 18, 2012 12:37 pm

Looking for recommendations to get the car painted mostly the same color. Looking for positive recommendations and places to avoid. It is a race car so not looking for the high $ job but do want something that passes the eye test from a few feet.

PM me if you prefer.

Carlsbad Collision did a really nice job fixing and repainting ours. Give them a call...

E-

Malibu Body and Paint on Raytheon Rd has done some nice work on the Black Pearl. He's a small operation with great attention to detail and very flexible with what you want, and what you want to pay. Kinninger recommended him to me. I was pleased, and would return when needed.

Bringing my VW Vanagon to paint at Tag Collision in San Marcos next week.
Needs some body work and 2-4 color plus 5-6 clear coats for around 4500 bucks...
I did a lot of shopping around and it seemed the best value in my experience.
I can report back when its done in a month. Oh yes, they let the paint/filler cure for a long time before doing the next layer.
I would be wary of shops that can turn it around in a week.
Just my 2 cents :)
Happy holidays!
