CARLSBAD – The search for a suspected drunken driver Friday night ended when he crashed, naked, through the ceiling from an attic along with a police dog sent there to flush him out, authorities said.

The man, 48, was arrested and taken to a hospital for a cut to his head, Carlsbad police Lt. Howard Carpenter said.

A man had called police about 7:45 p.m. to report a reckless, possibly drunken driver in a Porsche who hit a car while leaving the Domino's Pizza lot on El Camino Real. An officer spotted the Porsche two blocks away, Carpenter said.

He said the officer pulled over the driver, got out of his patrol car and watched as the Porsche sped away. The officer pursued him, catching up in time to see a garage door on Lotus Court close over a Porsche.

Officers called into the house, then entered through an unlocked door and searched but couldn't find anyone, Carpenter said.

They finally shoved a police dog through an access door into the attic above the master bedroom. Minutes later, a naked man and the dog fell through the drywall ceiling into the bathroom. Carpenter said the dog suffered a slight scrape on its belly.

Carpenter couldn't account for why the man took off his clothes. He faces charges of drunken driving, evading and resisting arrest.

While I'm no detective, I think I can help eliminate some of this clubs members from suspicion in this incident. Here are the clues I picked up on.

1.) The car in question is not a 944. The clue that led to this deduction is that the witness called police and identified the car as a Porsche. Had the witness said Mitsubishi Starion or Geo Storm or Mazda RX-7, it might have been a 944.

2.) The car is not a Boxster. The big clue that eliminated the Boxster as the get-away car is that the driver was male.

3.) The car is not a 924. The driver was leaving a pizza place which would indicate that the car is functioning as a mode of transportation.

4.) The car is not a 356. There is not a 356 driver alive whose cardiologist still allows him to eat pizza.

5.) The car is not a 914. The owners of 914's spend half their lives wiping oil off the floor of their garages or off the parking lot at Qualcomm. The last thing they want to do is wipe oily pizza residue off the sides of their mouths.

I believe that the Porsche in question, is in fact a 911. I have a strong suspicion that the perpetrator was in fact, Dan Andrews. The nude in the attic with a police dog scenario sounds remarkably like Dans modus operandi.

The only sticking point with my issuing an APB for the arrest of Mr. Andrews is that the article lists the drivers age as 48. I am now looking into the strong possibility that whoever typed this article is dyslexic.

And it could not have been a C-GT since he either would have stalled it and there would have been no chase. Or parked in the street because the driveway was too steep.

Curt, your theory is solid, except the officer was able to catch up with the driver. Dan would clearly have been able to outrun the patrol car. Hmmm, who do we know that drives a 911 that is slower than Dan (well besides about everyone), I am thinking you seem to know a lot about the incident .... and how did you get that cut on your head

Jad, your theory is flawed. While Dan under normal circumstances could outdrive a cop, on this night, he was drunk. We went to the Golden Cantina after the last Streets of Willow event and Dan had one margarita and was GONE! So maybe that night at Dominos, he walked past a wino who breathed on him and Dans blood alcohol level immediately shot to .23

I'll also have you know that one time I outran a meter maid in a golf cart. It was close, but I got away. That b'yatch had nothing on me, and I'm pretty sure she was not taking points for what had to have been a non standard LSD and uprated sway bars. I swear I was running stock venturis at the time.

Plus, lets not get carried away here. I am still a double digit number away from being 48 years old. I may look 48, but it's only from the pre timed run worry lines and post timed run frown lines I've developed.
